High Commissioner Dr. Mohammad Faisal briefs members of APPG on Pakistan regarding current Pakistan - India situation

The High Commissioner of Pakistan to UK, Dr. Mohammad Faisal met with members of All Parties Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Pakistan at the House of Commons in London and briefed them about the current situation between Pakistan and India.

The High Commissioner informed the Members of Parliament that India committed unwarranted aggression against Pakistan, which was a blatant violation of the sovereignty of Pakistan and against international law and the UN Charter. India's unilateral decision to hold the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance was without legal basis. The High Commissioner noted that the National Security Committee of Pakistan has declared that any attempt to stop water by India would be construed as an act of war.

Dr. Faisal emphasized that Indian hegemonic designs posed a serious danger to maintaining peace in the region. He thanked the UK government and other friendly countries for playing a supporting role in de-escalating the situation.

The High Commissioner reiterated that Pakistan was committed to the de-escalation and ceasefire arrangement brokered by international partners. He underlined that the root cause of conflict was the Jammu & Kashmir dispute which should be resolved as per UNSC resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
