Requirements and Application Procedure
The High Commission for Pakistan, London, facilitates applications for Police Character Certificates (also known as Police Clearance Certificates) for eligible Pakistani nationals residing in the United Kingdom.
Applicants are advised to review the following requirements and follow the relevant application procedure according to their province or region of origin in Pakistan.
Applicants Eligible to Apply Through the Police Portal
Applicants belonging to Islamabad Capital Territory, Punjab, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) may apply for a Police Character Certificate through the Police Portal. This facility is available at the High Commission for Pakistan, London.
Required Documents
Applicants must visit the High Commission in person and bring the following original documents:
- Valid Pakistani CNIC or NICOP.
- Valid Pakistani or foreign passport, as applicable.

Processing Time and Fee
- Processing time: Approximately 3–4 weeks, subject to completion of the verification process and receipt of a response from the relevant police station.
- Processing fee: £18.50.
Please note that processing times may vary depending on the verification process and the response received from the relevant authorities.
Applicants from Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP)
Applicants belonging to Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) are required to obtain their Police Character Certificate through an authorised relative or representative in Pakistan.
Please follow the steps outlined below.
- Prepare an Authority Letter
Prepare an Authority Letter authorising a relative in Pakistan to apply for and obtain your Police Character Certificate on your behalf.

Book an appointment at the High Commission for Pakistan, London, or the relevant Pakistan Mission in the United Kingdom to have your Authority Letter attested. - Bring the Required Documents
Attend your appointment in person and bring the following documents:- Original and a photocopy of your valid Pakistani identity document (CNIC/NICOP or passport, as applicable).
- Original Authority Letter and one photocopy.
- Two Passport Size Pictures
The Authority Letter will be attested subject to the applicable requirements.
- Send the Attested Authority Letter to Pakistan
Send the attested Authority Letter to your nominated relative in Pakistan. Your relative can then approach the relevant police station or competent authority to process your Police Character Certificate. - Obtain Attestation in Pakistan
Once the Police Character Certificate has been issued, ensure that it is attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan before it is sent back to you in the United Kingdom. - Attestation by the Pakistan Mission in the UK
Upon receiving the Police Character Certificate in the United Kingdom, arrange for its attestation by the High Commission for Pakistan, London, or the relevant Pakistan Mission, as required, before submitting it to the relevant UK authorities.

- An appointment must be booked in advance for services requiring an in-person visit.
- Processing times and documentation requirements may vary depending on the applicant’s circumstances and the relevant authorities.
- Applicants are advised to confirm the applicable attestation requirements before submitting their documents.
- Applicants who wish to receive their Police Character Certificate by post are requested to bring a pre-paid, self-addressed envelope when attending the High Commission. Please ensure that the envelope is properly prepared and includes sufficient postage for delivery.
