Dr Mohammad Faisal, High Commissioner for Pakistan to the UK, held an engaging conversation with community leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs, and business leaders of Pakistani heritage at Milton Keynes City Council. The High Commissioner was invited by Milton Keynes Pakistan and Kashmir Welfare Association.
Councillor Paul Trendall, the Deputy Lord Mayor of Milton Keynes Council, greeted the High Commissioner on his arrival at the City Council.
In his welcoming remarks, the Deputy Lord Mayor said that the Pakistani community has been actively engaged in the development and progress of Milton Keynes. He urged the community to embrace diversity and inclusion in shaping the city’s future.
In his keynote address, the High Commissioner said that Milton Keynes has established a unique identity among British cities. Its transformation into a dynamic urban centre reflects strategic vision, sustained investment, and a strong commitment to inclusive and sustainable growth.
The High Commissioner commended British-Pakistani leaders as “cultural ambassadors” who embody Pakistan’s values of hard work, resilience, and compassion. He underscored their pivotal role in strengthening democracy, promoting multiculturalism, and serving as a conduit between the United Kingdom and Pakistan.
The High Commissioner also underscored the significance of highlighting the accomplishments of British-Pakistani women.
“The strength of our nation abroad is manifested in the dignity, unity, and contributions of our diaspora,” he reiterated. “When you triumph, Pakistan triumphs alongside you.”
Addressing challenges, the High Commissioner rejected attempts to stigmatise the Pakistani community based on isolated incidents. He urged leaders to proactively counter negative stereotypes by amplifying success narratives in education, business, healthcare, and public service.
The High Commissioner urged the community to empower women and youth, preserve cultural heritage, and explore opportunities within Pakistan’s burgeoning economy. He emphasised that Pakistan is a land of vast opportunities and extended an invitation to its diaspora to collaborate in its advancement.
The community leaders, including Ch Muhammad Asghar, Umair’s Sarwar, Ch Tanveer Manawar, Raja Taj Mahmood, Ch Abaid Urehman, Councilor Naseem Khan,
and Neelam Shiraz, also spoke to the gathering. They assured their support and commitment to bridging Pakistan and the UK through inclusivity and inclusiveness.
