Seminar on the Contributions of Minorities of Pakistan in Nation Building held at the High Commission

London:  A seminar on the Contributions of Pakistani Minorities in Nation Building was held at the Pakistan High Commission London on 08 August 2018. The event was jointly organised by the High Commission and the World Congress of Overseas Pakistanis (WCOP) to pay tribute to the significant contribution of minorities of Pakistan in the fields of health, education, defence, politics and other fields.

The speakers of the seminar eulogized the contributions and efforts of the minorities in the creation of Pakistan and subsequent participation in the progress and development of Pakistan.

The High Commissioner, in his speech, highlighted the instrumental role of minorities in the creation of Pakistan. He noted that the government of Pakistan was cognizant of its role to protect the rights and representation of Pakistan's minorities. The High Commissioner also briefed the audience about recent democratic transition in Pakistan as a result of general election. He said Pakistan is moving in the right direction, with improved law and order and security situation.

Other speakers included Rev. Rana Youab Khan, Arif Anis Malik of WCOP, Ms. Soonu Engineer, Rev. John Hayward, Bishop Michal Nazir Ali, Esther Das and Mrs Nighat Naeem. They shed light on the tremendous contribution and services rendered by the high achievers from Pakistani minorities for the development of health, education, and other social sectors in Pakistan.

The event was the first of its kind to be held at the High Commission London and was attended by reputed speakers and thought leaders from the ethnic minorities including Christians, Hindus, Zoroastrians and others.

Rehman Chishti MP, a cross-section of the British society and members of the Pakistani community as well as media representatives attended the seminar.
