The Community Welfare Wing is also based at the Consulate General of Pakistan, Manchester, which is responsible for providing services to the Pakistani Community living in North, Yorkshire and Scotland. This Division looks after the welfare of expatriate Pakistanis, safeguards their interests and explores employment opportunities for intending emigrants from Pakistan to the UK.

 

The office handles all grievances against individuals and Government Departments in Pakistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir. Such complaints are referred to relevant Departments/Ministries for settlement of the grievances. The Welfare Wing also serves Summons/Notices from courts in Pakistan to the defendants in UK. Assistance is also provided in obtaining authentication from Pakistan of marriage/divorce, birth/death and Police clearance certificates.  The Community Welfare Counsellor also undertakes visits to safeguard the legitimate interests of Pakistanis in prison in UK.

 

Assistance is also provided in the despatch of dead bodies through PIA to Pakistan. Facility of free ambulance service for the transportation of dead bodies from various International Airports in Pakistan, to the place of burial is also available.

 

 

 

Other Welfare Services

             

Information is also available about various services being offered by the Government of Pakistan including educational facilities for the children of overseas Pakistanis  in Pakistan, Study Tours for the children of overseas Pakistanis, advice and assistance in legal matters, housing/pension schemes and redressal of grievances. The Community Welfare Section also provides information on incentives to the community members sending remittances to Pakistan through legal banking channels, as well as services provided by the facilitation counters at International Airports in Pakistan.
