Community Welfare Division, London

The Community Welfare Division (CWD) looks after the welfare of expatriate Pakistanis in the UK. The Division safeguards Pakistanis’ interests and explores employment opportunities for intending emigrants from Pakistan to the UK. It has two offices one each in London and Manchester each headed by a Counsellor.

The CWD handles all grievances against individuals and Government departments in Pakistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK). These grievances are sent to the Complaints Cell for overseas Pakistanis in the Prime Minister’s Secretariat (Public) in Islamabad and the Provincial Complaint Cells in the provincial capitals. The CWD serves Summons/Notices from courts in Pakistan to defendants. Assistance is also provided in obtaining authentication of marriage/divorce and birth/death certificates. The CWD also undertakes visits to safeguard the legitimate interests of Pakistanis in British prisons.

Information about various educational institutions in Pakistan is available at the High Commission. Job opportunities advertised through the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) can also be supplied by the CWD on request. The Division also assists Pakistanis in obtaining Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) / National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP).

Assistance in the despatch of dead bodies through Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to Pakistan as well as burial in the UK is provided by the CWD and information in this regard can be obtained by contacting CWD (click here to view the contact details of CWD).
