Rehman Malik meets
Baroness Warsi London: Interior Minister Senator Rehman
Malik, who is on an official visit to the United Kingdom, met Conservative
Party Chairperson Baroness Sayeeda Warsi over a working breakfast at White Hall
today. The two Ministers noted with satisfaction
the outcome of Mr. Malik’s meeting yesterday
with Home Secretary Theresa May and Migration Minister Damien Green. They hoped
that these interactions would provide necessary impetus to cooperative efforts
in tackling the security and migration issues and other matters of common
concern. During the meeting with Baroness Warsi, the
Interior Minister briefed her on political and security situation in Pakistan,
state of bilateral cooperation and pressing bilateral issues that needed better
understanding and cooperation from both the countries. They discussed the factors contributing to
promoting extremism and financing of terrorist elements. They recognized the
need for better intelligence sharing to address the issue. The Interior
Minister underscored that terrorism was the common enemy and threat and
therefore needed a common strategy. He also informed her about the foreign hand
behind unrest in Pakistan and financing of terrorist elements. They agreed to
continue ministerial contacts on regular basis for better cooperation. Last
evening, Home Secretary Theresa May hosted a dinner in honour of the Interior
Minister, which was attended by the British Ministers, Members of Parliament,
High Commissioner of Pakistan Wajid Shamsul Hasan and senior British and High
Commission officials. The Interior Minister also received
briefings from Chief of Metropolitan Police at New Scotland Yard Office and
Senior Executive of Serious Organized Crimes Agency (SOCA) on their functions
