Cricket match between Pakistan High Commission and Oxford Pakistani Wanderers

 

London: The team of Pakistan High Commission   Cricket Club  (PHCCC) played a friendly match against Oxford Pakistani Wanderer’s Cricket Club (OPWCC) at Bletchingdon Oxford on Sunday.  The OPWCC won the match by 90 runs. The total score of   OPWCC was 249 in 35 overs and that of PHCCC 159.  The OPWCC hosts the match between the two teams on yearly basis. Pakistan‘s High Commissioner to UK Mr. Wajid Shamsul Hasan was chief guest on this occasion.  Both sides participated with full enthusiasm with friends and families supporting the teams in ground.  

 

The High Commissioner gave away trophies to the teams and Man of the Match awards for outstanding performances of the players.  Special trophies were also given to organizers.  Man of the Match for winning team was bagged by Mr. Qaiser Naveed of OPWCC for scoring 62 runs whereas from Pakistan High Commission Mohammad Shahid received Man of the Match for scoring 44 runs.  

 

Special trophies were awarded to the High Commissioner Mr. Wajid Shamsul Hasan, Deputy High Commissioner Mr. Asif Durrani and Education Attaché Mohammad Talha Saeed for supporting and organizing the event.

 

Speaking on the occasion High Commissioner  appreciated the efforts of Oxford Pakistani Wanderers  Cricket  Club  for  hosting the event and said that holding healthy  activities  like sports were  essential for  children and  adults alike.  He said that people learn good values by sportsmanship and spirit and hoped for organizing such activities more frequently.

 

From PHCCC’s team Mohammad Shahid scored 44. Mir Akhlaque 31 and Shahid Ali Baig scored 18 runs OPWCC Qaiser Naveed and Shehbaz Alam scored 62 runs each, Asif Khan 37. On the bowling side Khurram took 2 wickets for 25 runs in 5 overs, Nauman 2 wickets for 48 runs in 7 overs, Faiz 2 wickets for 42 in 7 overs.
