Society raises funds for disabled children in Pakistan
at its Eid-Christmas reception held at Pakistan High Commission
London
London: The Annual Eid and
Christmas reception of Pakistan Society took place at the Pakistan High Commission
Wednesday, 16 December. The reception was attended by the
High Commissioner Mr. Wajid Shamsul Hasan, Chairman Pakistan
Society Lt. Gen. Anthony Palmer , Gen Secretary of the
Society Mrs. Shama Hussain , officers of the Pakistan High
Commission , members of Pakistan Society and people from various walks of
life including scholar Dr. David Mathews ( Sitara-I- Imtiaz),
Victoria Schofield, Margaret Brown, Col. Tony Streather
and Mr. and Mrs. Siraj- ul- Mulk from Chitral.
The Pakistan Society donates half
of the total funds raised on this occasion to worthy causes in Pakistan. This
year donation will be given to project for handicapped children being run
by charity organization, Jhok Aid.
Pakistan Society is a bilateral
society. It was founded in 1951 The Patrons of the Society
are President of Pakistan and HRH Prince Philip
Duke of Edinburgh and the membership stands at around 400 . Major
aim of the society is to increase public knowledge in Britain of the arts, history, geography and culture
of Pakistan.
