Awards presented for outstanding services Nation will Fight Back Terrorism - Wajid
Addressing a large gathering of Pakistani Community
settled in UK, the High Commissioner Mr. Wajid Shamsul Hasan said that
terrorism is the biggest challenge being faced by Pakistani nation today but
with its commitment to overcome challenges and its incredible ability to sail
through the problems the nation will definitely succeed in defeating the forces
of terrorism and would be able to show to the world that Islam is a religion of
peace. He said that security forces of Mr. Hasan further said that this is a matter of pride for
us, today that democratic institutions are effectively working in
Keeping in line with the tradition of recognizing
outstanding contribution of the Pakistani community, Pakistan Day Awards were
presented by the High Commissioner to individuals from various walks of life in
recognition of outstanding services and performance. Those who received Awards
included Mr. Ali Kiyani (late), whose award was received by his wife Mrs.
Rubina Kiyani, Photojournalist Mr. Waqar Zaidi, Ms. Afshan Bangash for
reporting in electronic media, student Ali Moeen Nawazish for making world
record of achieving 21 A grades, Badshah Gul for longest period of service at
Pakistan High Commission London and National Union of Pakistani Students and
Alumni. National songs were also sung by
children and cake was also cut to mark the 69th Pakistan Day.
