H.E. Wajid Shamsul Hasan presents credentials to Her Majesty The Queen 

 

Pakistan’s envoy to the UK, H.E. Wajid Shamsul Hasan presented his Credentials to Her Majesty the Queen at an impressive ceremony held at Buckingham Palace today.

 

Mr. Hasan accompanied by his lady wife Zarina Wajid was escorted in a traditional carriage procession from the High Commission to the Palace by Her Majesty’s Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps.

 

After the formal presentation of the Credentials in the Bow Hall, the Queen congratulated Mr. Hasan on his appointment as the High Commissioner for Pakistan for the second time and hoped Pakistan and Britain will continue enjoying cordial and mutually beneficial relations, particularly in the economic field. She also praised the contribution made by the Pakistani diaspora in Britain.

 

Remembering her meetings with Benazir Bhutto the Queen said that her loss was felt throughout the world. Recollecting her visits to Pakistan in the past, the Queen said that she had fond memories of the country. The Queen also wished to the people of Pakistan peace and prosperity.

 

High Commissioner conveyed to the Queen warm wishes from President Zardari. Mr. Hasan reiterated that during his current assignment he would make efforts towards further strengthening the existing relations rooted in strong traditions and the presence of a large community of Pakistani origin who have made significant contribution to the socio-economic development of Britain.

 

Mr. Hasan assumed the office in June this year. Earlier he was Pakistan’s High Commissioner for the UK from 1994 – 1996.

 

Deputy High Commissioner Mr Manzoor ul Haq, Defence and Naval Advisor Cdre. Asif Saleem, Minister Press Syed Imran Gardezi and Counsellor Political Aisha Farooqui were also present on the occasion.
